Critics are tripping over themselves to heap superlatives on the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. The praise train has been gathering steam since before the harvest last fall, and with the spring pilgrimages to Bordeaux came widespread exultation. Weather, terroir and fruit came together for a perfect Claret.

Bordeaux Big Guns and Bargains
Bordeaux is anything but easy. The 2005 vintage was much hyped. The 2009s are mega-hyped. The good ones are sublime. You gotta lay out some serious scratch for the good guys. The plonk is, well, plonk. And in the middle are some relative bargains, like Les Pagodes do Cos, second wine of Cos d’Estournel, as well as De Fieuzel and Haut Bergey, both from Pessac Leognan.
